Sustainability

♻️ Our Packaging Commitment

One of the toughest moments for us? When a whole truckload of packaging shows up and… it's not recyclable. Honestly, it makes us want to cry. We work so hard to make sustainable choices, and seeing all that material potentially headed for landfill is heartbreaking.

That's why we're so focused on choosing packaging that not only protects the freshness of our herbs, spices, and teas—but also has the best possible chance of being recycled. Our goal is to make sure as much of the packaging we bring in goes the full distance: from our back door to your hands, and then on to the recycling center.

We know the recycling world can be complicated, especially with different rules in different places. But we're committed to learning, improving, and being transparent with you every step of the way. As better packaging options become available, we'll be ready to make the switch—and we'll keep you in the loop so you know exactly how to dispose of it properly.

It's one thing to find the best herbs on the planet to make great herbal items from — especially when your standard is that you only purchase and sell herbs you'd feed your kids. It's quite another to package them well and ensure that packaging aligns with your mission.

Together, we can make a real difference.

Celebration Herbals Tea Packaging

Teas (teabagged and loose)

We've worked hard to make our tea packaging more sustainable—without compromising freshness. Here's how:

  • Tea Box - Made from 100% recycled paperboard and fully recyclable with paper and cardboard.
  • Tea Bag Paper - Our tea bags are 100% certified industrially compostable, made from abaca fibres, cellulose, and corn-based PLA. No plastic, no staples, no microplastics — who needs (or wants) them?
  • Inner Pouches - Since Fall 2024, we've used recyclable #4 plastic pouches in all our tea boxes. They block oxygen to keep your herbs and teas fresh—a crucial detail. Earlier versions were non-recyclable. This shift has been a long journey we're truly proud of.

Bottled Spices and Seasoning Blends

We've chosen materials for our spice packaging that balance quality, sustainability, and practicality:

  • Spice Bottles
    • Our bottles are made from PET plastic (#1 recyclable), which is widely accepted in curbside blue bin programs.
    • We explored using glass, but once we considered shipping weight, breakage, and recycling energy, plastic proved to be the better overall choice. We encourage you to recycle both glass and plastic to help close the loop.
  • Shaker Lids
    • Our black shaker lids are made from polypropylene (#5 recyclable). Some areas accept them curbside, others may require drop-off—so it's best to check with your local program.

Organic Connections or Celebration Herbals Bulk Packaging

    Bulk Herb and Spice Packaging

    • We've created a full line of bulk herbs and spices in our 100% recyclable kraft-look stand-up pouches.
    • These printed, durable pouches are classified under #2 or #4 recyclability codes (varies by print lot—check the bottom). They're commonly accepted at drop-off recycling facilities across the country.
